Waynesboro Police Investigate Vehicle Break-Ins

The Waynesboro Police Department is investigating two cases of vehicles being broken in and valuables being stolen while they were parked at Ridgeview Park earlier today.  In both cases, the victims' parked their vehicles in front of War Memorial Pool and left purses visible on a seat or floorboard.  This brazen type of crime is typically called a "smash & grab" because it can take just seconds to accomplish.  Also, they can happen in broad daylight in busy parking lTots. 

In today's cases, both vehicles were parked in close proximity to each other and no one reported hearing the windows being broken.  A passerby, who saw the broken windows, reported it to pool staff.  The victims reported that their purses containing credit cards, keys, jewelry and cash were taken.  Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $400.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Waynesboro Police Department at (540) 942-6675 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1(800)322-2017.  Information given to Crime Stoppers may be given anonymously.  Callers with information that lead to an arrest in this case are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
