Layoffs could be on the way at a company with a big presence in Charlottesville.
Law.com reports as many as 500 people working for LexisNexis may be laid off from four facilities. The report says layoffs could hit offices in New York, the Philadelphia area, Dayton, Ohio, and in Charlottesville.
LexisNexis eluded NBC29's question about the layoffs, just noting it regularly builds teams and reduces others.
According to the company
website, LexisNexis employs more than 15,000 people worldwide and offers
"content-enabled workflow solutions." About 205 people work at
the Charlottesville location.

LexisNexis continuously reviews its needs, operations and other factors to identify what resources and services are necessary to optimally support our customers and improve business operations. As a result of this ongoing process, we regularly build teams in certain areas of the business and reduce in others to be able to deliver next-generation solutions to customers. On balance, the total number of employees across the LexisNexis business remains consistent with prior years.
