Staunton Man Accused of Being an Online Predator Offered Bond

Posted: Updated:

A former Staunton cop accused of being an online predator has been offered $10,000 bond.

John Nuckolls, 55, faces two charges of taking indecent liberties with a child and one for sexual offense over a computer. He was being held without bond - but Monday in court, the judge accepted his plan to stay with his daughter in Verona.

Nuckolls cannot access to any electronic devices or the Internet. Police say he made plans in May to meet up with a teen girl in an online sting operation.

Nuckolls preliminary hearing is scheduled for August.
