DeMasters and Moyers Win Old Trail Two-Man Golf Tourney

Posted: Updated:

Steve DeMasters and former Virginia Tech standout, Mikey Moyers had a net score of 60 on day one and 65 on day two win the Old Trail Two-Man Golf Tournament in Crozet.

DeMasters said, "Feels great, I've known Mikey for a long time. We've played a lot of golf with each other and against each other, but to have him as a partner it feels great. Obviously if anyone's followed golf in the last four-or-five years, they've followed Mikey. He's had a phenomenal career at Virginia Tech and he's had a phenomenal summer this summer and as well as multiple summers in the past. He's a phenomenal player and he's just a good partner and a good friend.

Moyers added, "Having an extra guy in the hole or par in the hole or something like that - that's a big deal. It frees you up, makes you more relaxed knowing you have a good player that can back you up. It makes you play better. We kind of feed off each other in that way."

This is both of their first times winning the tournament.

Billy Garner and John Ritchey took second place.

Defending champions, Ty Grove and Neil Davis won the Two-Man in 2012. Grove said, "This area doesn't have a lot of two-ballers like this - best ball of partners. Its really great to play with your friends, your peers, your partners. My partner Neil Davis and I won last year. Its a great golf course to have it on because there's a lot of birdie opportunities and a lot of bogies."
