Wilson Tennis Camp Inspires Instructors and Campers to Compete
15 kids aging from 8-to-17 took to the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville for the Wilson Tennis Camp.
Emma King is a 10-year-old from Georgia whose been working side by side with Former Western Albemarle three-time state champion, Joey Manilla, and UVA Women's Associate head tennis coach, Troy Porco.
Porco says its nice to focus back on the basics and be able to work with a small group of campers. He added, "it teaches them a lot about not just tennis certainly but also other things. Fitness, nutrition and hopefully they can take that back home with them and get better and be better because of it."
Manilla, now a senior playing at Christopher Newport says working alongside Porco makes him want to invest his time post college into coaching. Manilla said, "I just see him with the kids all day long developing their tennis game and it really, really shows me where I need to be in a couple years."
All-in-all, to help aspiring Wahoo's like King reach her goal of playing tennis in college.
