Albemarle Commonwealth’s Attorney Speaks on Police Checkpoints

Posted: Updated:

Albemarle County Commonwealth's Attorney Denise Lunsford has issued a letter to the Board of Supervisors in response to debate over police checkpoints.

In the letter, Lunsford says the checkpoints follow a strict procedure that follows legal guidelines set by the state. This comes as The Rutherford Institute issued a letter to supervisors calling on them to investigate what it calls a heavy-handed and costly showing of police force.

A checkpoint held on July 11 sparked the debate.
