New Hope Fire and Rescue is lacking manpower, so it's getting some help.
Supervisors in Augusta County are all in for giving the station part-time help with a price tag of $74,000. One person per shift from Company 10 will be redeployed to New Hope.
The Augusta County fire chief, Carson Holloway, says the station has recruitment and retention issues keeping it from meeting the needs of the community.
"It's a small community, rural. There are a lot of farm personnel in the community, not a lot of young people. But young people that are there happen to work out and do jobs," Holloway said.
Supervisors want more information from the emergencies committee before deciding if Churchville Fire and Rescue needs help.
