An effort to brand an area of Augusta County is moving ahead. Life Core, the Blue Ridge health science corridor, has the support of Augusta County supervisors.
The medical corridor appealed to Mary Baldwin College as a good location for the Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences, which is in the works now.
Murphy Deming's vice president, Linda Seestedt-Stanford, says she is all for Life Core.
"We have our beautiful hospital Augusta Medical across the street, we have a nursing facility that's going in not too far from us and other nursing facilities close by. Plus Woodrow Wilson Rehab is a stone's throw away from us, especially since their cutting that new road," she said.
County leaders describe the dynamic medical corridor as an engine for economic growth.
