The race starts at 7 p.m. on Jefferson Sreet by Lee Park and finishes near the expo at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion.
Two runners are $1,000 richer Wednesday night after winning a race that ended on the downtown mall.
The proceeds from the Michie Tavern Downtown Mile, a race that twisted through the streets of downtown Charlottesville, go to the Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society.
Jeff See won the race with a time of 4:08. Heide Gregson was the fastest woman at 4:39. Each won $1,000.
The race began in three waves - elite runners, runners and walkers – and ended at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion, where there was a Health Living Expo and an award ceremony for the winners. The expo was free and offered events like DJ-led yoga, free food and other giveaways.
There's a concert after the race at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion, next to the finish line where there will be awards.
Organizers want to make the race an annual event.
