A Charlottesville nonprofit hosted a summer party Sunday to give its members and the community a chance to unwind.
The AIDS Services Group held its annual summer picnic and barbecue at Forest Hills Park Sunday afternoon. Dozens of people turned out for the activities. ASG staff and supporters say it's a good chance to build community.
"It's just a chance for our members to come out [and] have a good time, have a good meal and share each other's company," said Robert Rodney, membership coordinator for AIDS Services Group in Charlottesville.
"I brought my family here so we're hanging out and just enjoying the water and the food," said Kathy Houchens, ASG member.
ASG served more than 1,400 people last year with the mission of building community for people living with, affected by, or at risk for HIV or AIDS.
