There is a traffic alert for drivers who use the Route 250 Bypass in Charlottesville.
Lane closures begin Monday on the Bypass near the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad.
Crews are removing the concrete median that separates the east and westbound lanes to get the bypass ready for additional utility work.
The lane closures start at 6 p.m. Monday and will continue all week. All lanes will be open during rush hour times - from 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. The city's encouraging drivers to find another way around.

Route 250 Bypass Traffic Notice
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Effective Monday Evening, July 22, 2013
Preparation for continued utility work across the Route 250 Bypass near the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad (CARS) will start Monday evening, July 22.
Lane closures will be set up on the Route 250 Bypass beginning at 6pm. The contractor will begin removing the raised median along the 250 Bypass east of McIntire Road.
In addition, northbound McIntire Road is reduced to one lane between Harris Street and the Route 250 Bypass in order to direct turning vehicles to their proper lanes on the Bypass.
No lane closures/shifts will take place between 7-9am and 4-6pm each day.
This work is expected to be completed by Friday, July 26.
Motorists should expect delays and are urged to use alternate routes when possible. Please drive carefully!
