Cville Cheesemonger Wins Second Place at Invitational
A Charlottesville Whole Foods employee is one of America's best cheesemongers. Nadjeeb Chouaf won second place in the fourth annual Cheesemonger Invitational held in New York last month.
The 27-year-old beat out 50 other contenders in an all-day competition that included a knowledge exam, blind tasting, and making perfect bite sized pairings.
Chouaf says he loves sharing his passion for cheese.
"What it was was the amount of knowledge that there is about cheese that is largely unknown. And I mean it's science, it's anthropology, it's history, it's all these really cool subjects that I get to learn about and I get to share on a daily basis with the customers who come in here," said Chouaf.
Chouaf holds regular cheese
classes at Whole Foods and Milli Joe. He will also host a special
beer and cheese event at Champion Brewery on July 27 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
