Cville Political Writer Expresses ABC Raid Concerns in Column
A Charlottesville political writer is taking his concerns about an Alcoholic Beverage Control raid that led to a University of Virginia student's arrest to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
The student was arrested for buying bottled water that ABC agents mistook for beer in April.
Rick Sincere's column says the aggressive raid would have never happened if the ABC was not charged with enforcing a drinking age that is too high.
"It's a lot easier to catch a 15-year-old trying to buy alcoholic beverages illegally then someone who is already an adult, someone who is old enough to fight and die for their country, somebody who old enough to enter into contract, somebody who is old enough to get married without permission of their parents," said Sincere, writer for Virginia Politics on Demand.
Sincere says he plans to talk with members of the General Assembly about the issue.
