Waynesboro hosted one of its biggest events of the year yesterday.

Waynesboro Parks and Recreation held its 34th annual Summer Extravaganza at Ridgeview Park.

The event featured amusement rides, local food vendors, arts and crafts and live music playing all day.

Organizers estimate between 10,000 and 15,000 people stopped by throughout Saturday.

"It's probably our biggest event we do throughout the year so we really try to get the whole community involved," said special events coordinator Spencer Eavers. "That's why the arts and crafts vendors are from around the state, but then all of the food vendors are local. We have nonprofit organizations. It's one of their biggest fundraisers throughout the year."

Hot air balloon rides started around 6 p.m. and fireworks went off shortly before 10 p.m.
