The Albemarle County School
Board is still working to hash out specific details about a success plan for
The board is updating the
division's strategic plan that was adopted in 2005. Right now there is a 92
percent graduation rate within the schools. Thursday night there were talks of
raising that goal to 97 percent in the plan - something that not all board
members have agreed with yet.
"So it's just a
matter of how to crystalize that student-centered goal so that it covers every
student in the school division and reaches the highest aspirations that we have
for their education," said board member Phil Giaramita.
The rest of the plan lays
out objectives that include better engaging students, expanding partnerships
and better utilizing resources.
The school board is
expected to approve the plan at its next meeting at the end of July.
