A group of nonprofits is working on a colorful project to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Clean Water Act.

The Charlottesville Mural Project has created several murals in Charlottesville. Now, the organization is teaming up with the Rivanna Conservation Society, StreamWatch and the Rivanna River Basin Commission.

"Every time they walk by this beautiful mural that has specific aquatic life from our community - they're going to think about not only what lives here, that we have a beautiful river, but also we hope they'll think about the responsibility that they might have in keeping the Rivanna clean and safe for all of us," said Robbi Savafe, executive director of the Rivanna Conservation Society.

A Kickstarter campaign is raising $8,000 for the mural project.
