ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va (WVIR) -
The town of Gordonsville is celebrating its bicentennial with a new documentary.
"Gordonsville Virginia - A Strong Fabric" is out on store shelves. The film originally aired as a rough cut back in February.
One of the film's creators says the town of Gordonsville is very similar now to how it was 200 years ago.
"In 1870 the census in Gordonsville was almost exactly the same as the 2010 census, so it was a big town and it was an important town and it was a very important town during the Civil War and the Union tried constantly to capture Gordonsville and they never achieved that goal," said Phil Audibert,a documentarian who worked on the film.
A DVD of the film costs $10. Copies are being sold at the Gordonsville Medical Pharmacy, the Arts Center in Orange and the Orange County Historical Society.
