UPDATED: Albemarle Police Investigate Car Break-Ins, Accident
Albemarle County police are searching for two people after a chase and crash early Monday morning.
Officers responded to a call for car break-ins along the 2700 block of Huntington Road around 3 a.m. They saw a car speed away from the area, tried to pull it over and then gave chase.
The driver ran a stop sign and hit a parked car and a set of brick stairs on Pine Haven Court. Three people ran off but one was arrested a short time later.

The Albemarle County Police Department is currently investigating an incident which took place overnight involving car larcenies, suspects evading police and a hit and run.
At 2:58 am the ACPD received a call about car larcenies in progress in the 2700 block of Huntington Road. An officer observed a vehicle leaving the area of Carrsbrook Drive and Huntington Road at a high rate of speed. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver failed to stop.
The suspect vehicle ran the stop sign at Huntington Road and Rio Road before going off the roadway into Pine Haven Court. The vehicle struck a parked car, continued on the sidewalk and hit a set of brick stairs. The driver and two passengers fled the scene on foot.
One suspect was apprehended on Greenbrier Driver moments later. The other two suspects remain at large. The investigation into this incident is ongoing and charges are pending.
