Sargent Leads In Day 2 of the Charlottesville City Golf Championship
UVa Golf Coach, Bowen Sargent, finished 5 under and shot 66 Saturday to claim the top spot in day two of the Charlottesville City Golf Championship at Meadowcreek Golf Course.
Sargent said, "I played very conservative. I hit the ball around the hole a lot. I had a lot of 10, 15-footers and I made a lot of them today obviously but yeah, it was a good day. I was able to keep pressure on the golf course all day long and made a lot of birdies, two bogies but I played very well. I was very happy."
Lance Hoover finished day one in third place (71- at even par), but moved up to second in day two shooting 74 (+3).
Defending Champion, Phil Mahone, was tied with Sargent on day one shooting 70, but today he fell back to third place as he finished with a 76. Mahone said, "I'm disappointed. One of my worst rounds in a while. I don't know what it was but I didn't hit it well. I didn't put well. Maybe it was the pressure, I don't know. I just never got it going. I could never get it going. Bowen played great. I kept trying to stick around but every hole he'd get one or two up on me and it was just - it was tough. I just didn't play well. Yesterday I played really well and today, its just one of those days. That's just golf."
