A new Charlottesville store is building business for central Virginia artisans.

The Artisans Market just opened in the Barracks Road shopping center.

It's filled with handmade products from all over the world.

But 40 of the artisans featured in the shop are from central Virginia.

The owner says the store is a place for artists and manufacturers to get their products out into the community.

"We have people contacting us every day and people are telling us how appreciative they are that we've done this, apparently there have been some changes where there used to be more venues available that aren't available," said Monique Moshier, owner of the Artisans Market.

Moshier was inspired to create the artisans market because of Charlottesville's support for locally owned businesses.
