After 19 years, you won't see the same face you're used to at BreadWorks Bakery in Charlottesville. Workers there celebrated the retirement of its manager Friday afternoon.
Employees at BreadWorks say they don't know how they will get along without Jim Baber. For 19 years, Baber managed the bakery's mission to make delicious goods and train individuals with disabilities.
According to Chuck McElroy, president of WorkSource Enterprises, Baber has been a champion of individuals with disabilities, many of whom have gone on to work in other stores.
"The ability to relate with our clients is critically important and Jim is just loved and respected by his staff and customers and those whom we serve," McElroy said.
The farewell party included speeches and lots of smiles and hugs. There was also a large bon voyage cake.
Baber joked that he planned to work on what he fondly calls his wife's "honey do list," and said he looks forward to catching up with friends and traveling with his wife.
