Mahone and Sargent Tied at First at C'ville City Golf Tourney
UVA Golf Coach Bowen Sargent and Defending Champion Phil Mahone tied for first place in the first round of the Charlottesville City Golf Championship.
Lance Hoover finished in third place shooting even par. Hoover said, "I managed to play the backside four under so to bring it all the way back to par those last nine holes was pretty lucky."
Chuck Crenshaw shot two over par and finished at 73. Crenshaw said, "its about my tenth [time playing in the tournament]. I took a year off last year and then came back to play again. It's nice to be around friends and enjoy a good golf course today. The course was a little wet but we all enjoyed it."
Ric Pocaro finished shot 76 on the day and said scores were a little higher than last years first round due to the conditions of the greens. Pocaro said, "we've got some wind but its great weather. The course is a little wet. It's nice to see the guys out here and the scores aren't as low as we thought they would be but everything is gonna be a little bit tougher this year."
T1) 70, Bowen Sargent, and Phil Mahone
3) 71, Lance Hoover
4) 73, Alex Odell, Ben Kayton, Chuck Crenshaw, Hunter Weaver, Jim Higginbotham.
