Virginia's highways are receiving higher marks than those in many other states according to a new national report by the Reason Foundation. The good rating is good news for Virginia drivers.
Virginia has the third-largest highway system in the nation - with more than 58,000 miles under state control. Virginia bumped up three spots from the last annual highway report.
Virginia ranked 15th in the nation for overall highway performance and efficiency, and first in rural interstate pavement conditions. But the report ranks Virginia 33 out of 50 states in deficient bridges.
North Dakota made the No. 1 spot for overall highway performance and Alaska ranked 50 on the list.
