Man Arrested for Domestic Violence after Brief Standoff

Posted: Updated:

Police were involved in a brief standoff Tuesday night at a home in Lake Monticello.

Around 8:15 p.m., Fluvanna sheriff's deputies, Lake Monticello police and the state police responded to a home on the 10 block Mulligan Drive for a call of a domestic assault and possible barricaded armed subject who may have taken his wife hostage.

Lt. David Wells, with the Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office, says that once on scene, Gregory Taylor was located, found to be unarmed, and rapidly detained without incident.

The woman was located without any major injuries, and Taylor was arrested for domestic violence.

Clarification: Gregory Taylor, 51, was arrested for domestic violence only, not domestic violence and public intoxication as previously reported.
