Waynesboro Business Owners Speak Up about Downtown Parking
Downtown business owners were vocal in Waynesboro Monday night during a meeting about parking.
Some of the streets noted by those in attendance to have parking problems are Lumos Plaza, Main Street and Federal Street. Business owners also want the city to look at different parking lengths from 15 minutes to two hours.
The biggest issue shared was that of enforcement - and not by customers, but rather by downtown employees.
"A couple weeks of tickets would take care of a lot of the people that are coming every day and parking in the same spot and staying all day. If they had to pay that ticket a couple times they'd find someplace else to park," said Webber Payne, owner of Waynesboro Florist.
One suggestion proposed at the meeting was stickers on employee cars. City planners hope to meet again in four weeks to share some possible solutions.
