Virginia swimming and diving coach Mark Bernardino is retiring after 35 years as the Cavaliers head coach.

Bernardino was the longest tenured coach at UVa.

He led both the men's and women's swim teams to ACC championships this season, the unprecedented sixth year in a row they both accomplished that feat.

Bernardino has guided the Virginia teams to 27 conference titles in all, the most in league history.

He's a 1974 graduate of UVa's McIntire School, and has sent at least one swimmer to every Summer Olympics since 1996.
