Virginia State Police Up for Reaccreditation

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A national team is coming to Richmond this month to assess the Virginia State Police for reaccreditation.

The department's policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services will be examined for compliance with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.'s standards.

State police are inviting the public to submit comments about the department to the accreditation team.

Comments can be made by telephone on July 29 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The toll-free number is 1-866-468-4903. Telephone comments must address the department's ability to comply with the standards. Comments will be limited to 10 minutes.

Written comments can be mailed to the commission at 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia 20155.
