Dessert lovers in Crozet got a head start on the red, white, and blue Fourth of July fun by baking cupcakes.
Children and their families converged on the Mudhouse Coffee shop Sunday to make patriotic cupcakes.
In some cases - wearing the icing was also part of the fun.
Executive pastry chef Margo Diaz says decorating cupcakes can be a challenge.
"Trying to keep the frosting in the bag and not all over the place but up the kids let loose," she explained.
The Independence Day cupcake making is in its fourth year.
Mudhouse also hosts a monthly kitchen workshop.
The next class in July will be for adults who want to learn how to can peaches.
