Andrew Brown has given a verbal commitment to Mike London and the University of Virginia football team to be a member of the Class of 2014.

Brown made the announcement from his home Saturday afternoon.

He's a five star defensive tackle from Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake.

Brown is listed at 6'3" and 298 pounds.

The rising senior had at least thirty scholarship offers, and chose UVa over Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, and Virginia Tech.

Brown says Virginia head coach Mike London played a big role in his decision.

"UVa brings to the table a great education, as well as football," says Brown.  "Coach London, he's coaching the D-Lineman.  Which is crazy, because how many situations do you get where the head coach teaches the D-Lineman?  So that's another plus.  And it's not far away from home.  It's convenient for my grandparents to watch me play."

Rivals.com has Brown listed as the #1 ranked defensive tackle in the Class of 2014, and the seventh best player in the nation overall.

Brown is the 9th member of the Cavaliers' recruiting class, and the second five-star recruit, joining safety Quin Blanding, who is the #1 ranked defensive back in the nation.

Blanding plays at Bayside High School in Virginia Beach.

Brown is the #7 ranked player in the nation overall, while Blanding is ranked #4.

Virginia is the only program in the country to currently have two commitments from players ranked in the top 10 nationwide.

Blanding was with Brown for his announcement Saturday, as was Taquan "Smoke" Mizzell, the five-star running back who will play at UVa in the fall.
