Students Display Artwork at ‘Reflections’ Reception

Posted: Updated:

A group of middle school students from around central Virginia celebrated two weeks of creating and learning about art Friday.

Forty students chosen for the Reflections Governor's Art School showed off their masterpieces at a reception in Charlottesville. The young artists represent public schools in Charlottesville, Albemarle, Greene and Nelson counties.

This year's theme was "Me, Myself and I." Students created art with the concepts of past, present and future in mind.

"I really, really liked the creative process where we got to exchange ideas because I myself am a very indecisive person so I liked having other people to support me along the way," said student Gayathri Prakash.

The program is in its 23rd year. The director says the school is aimed at bringing gifted and talented art students together.
