People are raising a glass on Charlottesville's downtown mall Friday night to promote tourism.
Ten wineries are packed into the Old Metropolitan Hall serving up some vino. It's the first in a weekly series to promote the Monticello Wine Trail. Each Friday, new wineries will set up shop to do tastings and sell bottles.
"There's no better place to check out Charlottesville than to start off on the downtown mall, so why not have them under one roof to help support this wine trail association, which is bringing these people in, and helping our local economy grow?" said Travis Wilburn, founder of Old Metropolitan Hall.
The event, complete with live music, starts at 5 p.m. each Friday and goes until 10 p.m. Tickets are available at the door.
