The Albemarle County School Board is working on a new blueprint for academic success.
The board is updating its strategic plan that outlines the goals for the division. There are five objectives that include engaging students, expanding partnerships and better utilizing resources.
Board members sat down Thursday night to hash out specific priorities for each of those objectives.
"It's all about the students. There's a lot of jargon I just used around strategic planning but the bottom line is planning in advance so that our students can have the best experience that they can and they can be life-long learners," said assistant Superintendent Matt Haas.
Part of the plan is also encouraging teachers to set goals for students beyond the standards of learning tests.
The board is expected to vote on the plan at its next meeting on July 11.
