Report: Central VA Recycling Rate Above State Requirement

Posted: Updated:

A new report shows people in central Virginia have no problem going green.

In 2012, the Thomas Jefferson Solid Waste Region was well above the 25 percent recycling rate required by the state.

The region includes the city of Charlottesville, Albemarle, Fluvanna, and Greene counties, and shows recycling last year was actually 37.8 percent.

The increase is credited to improved reporting from waste and recycling haulers across the area.
