100-Year-Old Albemarle Barn Destroyed in Fire

Posted: Updated:

A 100-year-old barn burned to the ground in southern Albemarle County Wednesday afternoon and a lightning strike is the likely cause.

The fire started around 4 p.m. on Taylor's Gap Road near Sycamore Creek Drive in North Garden. The barn stored hay, which made the fire tough to contain.

Fire investigators say there were no animals or equipment in the barn and no one was injured in the fire.
