Nelson County investigators are searching for a bank robbery suspect who may have left behind a valuable clue - his pants.
The Nelson County Sheriff's Office, Virginia State Police, and the FBI were on the scene collecting evidence at the BB&T on Critzers Road most of the day.
Investigators say a man robbed the tellers at gunpoint around 9:35 a.m. Wednesday before fleeing on foot. Police found a pair of black pants matching what the suspect was described as wearing, outside the bank.
"There were some pants recovered. Whether they're related or not to this particular incident it's unknown at this time. But, just based on the geographic location they were recovered in, it's possible. We're not going to overlook that by any means," said investigator Billy Mays with the Nelson County Sheriff's Department.
Virginia State Police, K-9 units and a chopper searched the area around the bank.
If you have any information that can help investigators, call the Nelson County Sheriff's office at 877-570-TIPS.
