Preservation Commission gave the green light to turn a downtown alley into an
A donation of $50,000,
plus volunteer time and materials, will create a community area complete with
vertical landscaping, low-maintenance pavement and sculptures.
"There could be some
openings of artwork, for example," said Bob Mortensen, a landscape architect
for Mortensen Associates. "There could be some cocktail parties, something
where a community gathering could come out and utilize. It could spill out. A
place for the children's groups that are very active in the Smith Center."
