Former Albemarle Supervisor, UVA Professor Dies at 85

Former Albemarle County supervisor and University of Virginia professor "Tony" Iachetta passed away Monday at the age of 85.

Iachetta served briefly in the Navy during World War II, and later served the United States Army in the Korean War.

He served two terms on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors beginning in 1975, and later served as board chairman of the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority.

Iachetta was also the father of Charlottesville General Registrar Sheri Iachetta Owen.
