Carver Recreation Center Evacuates after Chemical Leak

The Carver Recreation Center at the Jefferson School City Center is closed for the rest of the day, after a non-hazardous chemical leak forced the evacuation of the building Tuesday morning. 

The Charlottesville Fire Department is working to clean up the leak from the building's air conditioning system, and says there is no safety threat.

All classes and activities for the day are canceled. 

Summer camp programs are now going on at Walker Upper Elementary School. For any parents concerned about scheduling, call 434-970-3260.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -  Due to a mechanical malfunction at the Jefferson School City Center, Carver Recreation Center is closed for the remainder of the day, Tuesday, June 25, 2013.  All classes and activities scheduled for today have been canceled.

Summer camp programs have been moved to Walker Upper Elementary School for the day.  Campers who are picked up by their parent or guardian will need to be picked up at Walker Upper Elementary instead of Carver Recreation.  Campers who ride the bus will be picked up by bus at Walker Upper Elementary.
