The Jefferson-Madison Regional Library is saying goodbye to a librarian who's worked there for almost four decades.

Andrea Williams started at the library in 1977. She was also involved in the opening of Albemarle County's Northside Library and Greene and Nelson County's libraries.

Williams says she can't believe how much her job has changed over the years.

"When I first came we were still using, there was no automatic checkout, we were still using card catalog. I don't know if you remember that, instead of the online catalog so there were no online catalogs back then," said Williams.

Williams' last day is Friday.

She says it's not goodbye though - she looks forward to visiting the library and being on the other side of the checkout counter.
