The stand-off occurred on the 1000 block of Entry School Road.
An Augusta County man is undergoing a mental health evaluation after an armed stand-off with police that lasted several hours Saturday morning.
The Augusta County Sheriff's office said deputies responded to a call for suspicious activity at a home in the 1000 block of Entry School Road in Fishersville around 3:30 a.m.
A 54-year-old man with a shotgun met deputies at the door then barricaded himself inside the house. Negotiators worked to coax him out -- until a SWAT team deployed gas into the house, went in, and took the man into custody.
No one was injured during the standoff. Investigators say the man will receive mental health treatment and will not face criminal charges.
