Albemarle County police are investigating two armed robberies that happened late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. In both cases, intruders broke into homes and robbed the victims at gunpoint.
Neighbors say Lakeview Drive in Four Seasons is usually quiet. But that wasn't the case early Thursday morning. Police were called there around 12:20 a.m. after they say three unknown men broke into a home and robbed the victim at gunpoint.
The robbers took off with electronics and cash. The victim isn't sure if they left in a car or by foot.
Just an hour before that happened, around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to another armed robbery in the University Heights area. The victim told police two unknown men entered his home and had a gun. They also took electronics and cash and left the scene in a vehicle.
Right now, police aren't connecting the crimes, which have left both neighborhoods nervous.
"That concerns me a lot. This is normally a very quiet neighborhood. We actually have a security patrol that comes through here several times a night, and I'm surprised an event like this would happen," said Steve Harris, who lives in Four Seasons.
Albemarle County police are still investigating whether or not they are related to the home invasion earlier this week off Shelby Drive in Charlottesville.
The owner of a nearby daycare center spoke to police Thursday about surveillance cameras she has set up. Police say they will pick up the footage on Monday.
