Charlottesville police are currently looking for two men suspected of being involved in an overnight shooting in Charlottesville.

Police were called to a home on Shelby Drive just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning for a gunshot victim. At first it seemed simple - a man shot in the leg and wounded inside his Charlottesville home. But through their investigation Tuesday, police determined that the incident was the result of a home invasion.

Police say the 24-year-old victim, who lived at the house, was home when two men forced themselves inside.  At some point the 24-year-old man was shot.

"Usually when you see forensic units it's something worse. That's what my estimation is," said William Smith, who lives in the neighborhood.

The overnight shooting and increased police presence on Shelby Drive has sparked curiosity from neighbors.

"It's a family oriented neighborhood. Most of these houses with the exception of the ones at the end is private families," said Kenny Vanzandt, who lives in the neighborhood.  "For the most part it's pretty quiet, pretty quiet. I've never had any problems here."

The victim is currently being treated at UVA Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are asking if you have any information about what happened to call Crime Stoppers at  434-977-4000.
