Police Investigate Charlottesville Bank Robbery

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: Charlottesville police are working with the FBI to track down the suspect who robbed the United Bank Monday night.

A bank robber is on the loose Monday night after he made off with cash from a downtown Charlottesville bank.

It happened just before 5 p.m. at the United Bank on the downtown mall.

Police are still gathering information and are not yet releasing many details but do have a description of the suspect.

"We're looking for a white male white T-shirt with a pair of aviator glasses on that was seen in a bank, last seen fleeing the area running in a southern direction on Fifth Street near Water," said Lieutenant Ronnie Roberts, spokesman for the Charlottesville Police Department.

Police believe the robber was acting alone. They are asking anyone with any information to call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.
