Youth Group Hosts 'Cause Wash' to Benefit Habitat for Humanity
Youth group members wash cars at "Cause Wash"
A Charlottesville youth group washed cars Saturday to support affordable housing in the community. Habitat for Humanity's Youth United Program partnered with a group from Christ Episcopal Church to host their first "Cause Wash" of the summer season.
Youth United is a national program for people between the ages five and 25 to educate, advocate, and fundraise on behalf of Habitat for Humanity.
"When our youth volunteers are under the age of 16, they can't be on the construction site for liability reasons and so things like this are ways for them to really get involved and serve their community without having that liability restriction they do on site," said Mary Maxfield, Youth United Coordinator.
All proceeds go to the Youth United Habitat Family Sponsorship to help build a home at Belmont Cottages.
The next "Cause Wash" is June 27 at the Habitat store in Charlottesville.
