PVCC Course to be Offered at Fluvanna County Schools

Posted: Updated:

Fluvanna County students of all ages could soon be taking college classes thanks to a new partnership between county schools and Piedmont Virginia Community College.

Fluvanna Director of Curriculum and Instruction Brenda Gilliam says teachers and PVCC professors will offer college courses and exploratory courses at the Fluvanna County High School.

"Potentially something in culinary arts where people might be exploring cake baking or something of that genre, or it could be something different like with the computer classes that we have where someone might want to learn how to do Excel or Word and they could have the opportunity to do that," said Brenda Gilliam of Fluvanna County Schools.

Gilliam says the program would also offer after school and summer enrichment courses to elementary school students.

The partnership would allow people who live in Fluvanna to learn close to home, and give PVCC a free place to offer classes.
