A Charlottesville man is in trouble with the law for animal cruelty.

Police arrested Nathaniel Mickens, 26, after police say they found his dog malnourished on Wednesday.

According to police, a pit bull was found on the second floor of a home chained, without food or water nearby.

The dog was taken to the SPCA. If Mickens is found guilty, he could face up to a year in jail.
