Police Waiting on Autopsy Results in Officer-Involved Shooting

Posted: Updated:

According to the Medical Examiner's Office in Richmond, the autopsy results for the man killed by an Albemarle County police officer last weekend could be available as early as Thursday.

Virginia State Police say an Albemarle County officer shot and killed 21-year-old Gregory Rosson Jr., of Crozet early Saturday morning.

It happened outside a home in the 9,000 block of Rockfish Gap Turnpike in Afton.  Police say a woman was being assaulted when they arrived, and Rosson ran toward the officer who shot him.

As for police, they remain tight-lipped as far as any new details regarding the shooting.  A special team from the Virginia State Police is investigating the shooting. The officer involved is on administrative leave and Albemarle County Police have initiated an internal investigation.
