Albemarle County Police Department Press Release

The Albemarle County Police Department is investigating a rash of larcenies from vehicles in the Crozet/Ivy area. The larcenies were first brought to our attention in early May and have continued to occur.

Several neighborhoods in the western portion of the county have experienced car break-ins. The thief or thieves are taking cash, change, electronics and other items from the vehicles.

The cars that are being targeted have all been unlocked at the time of the larceny. Please make sure you take your valuables inside your home and lock your car doors.

If you have had anything stolen from your vehicle or observe any suspicious activity, call 911, and contact the Albemarle County Police Department at 434-296-5807 and ask for Detective Lavin or contact Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.

We will continue to provide extra patrols in the area throughout the course of this investigation.

Attached are photos taken from one of the scenes. If you recognize the individuals in the photos, please contact Detective Lavin or Crime Stoppers.
