Political analysts say - more often than not - money can correctly predict which candidate will win. NBC29 has the numbers in the race for Charlottesville City Council, ahead of Tuesday's Democratic primary.
There are five different Democratic candidates vying for two open seats on City Council. Here is the amount of money each candidate had in the bank at the end of May:
Wes Bellamy leads the pack with more than $3,800, followed by incumbent Kristin Szakos with $2,900. Melvin Grady had $1,671 and Adam Lees with $1,459.
Bob Fenwick - who also ran as an independent in 2011 - reported just $280.
