SPCA Teams Up with Dogwood Festival Queen for Adoption Outing

Posted: Updated:

Puppies and kittens from the Fluvanna County SPCA found loving homes Sunday with a little help from central Virginia royalty.

The SPCA teamed up with 2014 Dogwood Festival Queen Katelyn Almarode Sunday afternoon for a half-price adoption outing at the Petco store in Albemarle County.

Almarode is a Fluvanna County native and volunteers at the shelter.

"Just love animals, they're always great and they always need good homes. They're kind of like little kids. Every kid needs a good home and so do all the puppies.  It's something I enjoy and it's a good way to get out there and volunteer so I just love doing it," said Almarode.

Two kittens and one puppy were adopted at the outing.

There are still animals are up for adoption at the Fluvanna County SPCA.  To find out more about them, click here.
